  • Cortex Leadership Consulting CEO Lynda Foster to Deliver Wrap-Up Keynote at the Emerging Technology Conference | Cortex Leadership Consulting

Cortex Leadership Consulting CEO Lynda Foster to Deliver Wrap-Up Keynote at the Emerging Technology Conference < Back Cortex Leadership Consulting Oct 31, 2025 Cortex Leadership Consulting CEO Lynda Foster to Deliver Wrap-Up Keynote at the Emerging Technology Conference Cortex Leadership Consulting CEO Lynda Foster will close the Roanoke-Blacksburg Technology Council’s Emerging Technology Conference as the Wrap-Up Keynote Speaker with her address, “The New Rules of Leadership in the Age of AI: Mastering Time, Teams, and Tools.” In this high-energy and reflective session, Foster will take attendees on a journey through the decades of leadership evolution — from a time of limited access and information scarcity to an age of overwhelming data, connectivity, and automation. Her keynote explores the question leaders must now answer: “How do we find — and stay focused on — the signal in all this noise?” Drawing from more than 15 years of executive coaching, leadership research, and technology innovation, Foster will illustrate how artificial intelligence is reframing leadership — not by replacing people, but by accelerating how leaders think, collaborate, and make decisions in real time. She will share insights from her proprietary systems including Time Mastery 2.0 , The New Rules of Teamwork , and The AI Strategic Leader Program — and demonstrate how leaders can co-think with AI without losing what makes them human. AI Leadership Snapshot: A Conference First Developed by Cortex exclusively for this year's conference, the AI Leadership Snapshot gives both attendees and organizers a first-of-its-king real-time view of leadership readiness in the age of AI. The snapshot uses an AI-driven diagnostic to help participants identify their current mindset and confidence level in applying emerging technologies to leadership, time management, and collaboration. Conference organizers can use the anonymized insights to understand trends across industries and guide future programming. New Technology Experiences Attendees will also experience two additional Cortex innovations: The AI Leadership Snapshot, designed for personalized insight and reflection. An AI Concierge, developed in collaboration with Randy Lowman of Laketurn Automation , trained on the conference's sessions and speakers to help attendees access insights, resources, and recordings on demand. "The next chapter of innovation belongs to the leaders who learn to co-think with AI - without losing what make them human" says Foster. "Today, access isn't the challenge. Discernment is. The best leaders are learning how to lead through the noise." Known for her engaging, practical, and human-centered approach, Foster's keynote will blend stories, humor, and real-time examples to help leaders master their time, build trust, and create lasting value with emerging technologies. As the creator of Time Mastery 2.0 , The AI Leader Brief , and The AI Strategic Leader Program , Foster continues to help organizations and executives adopt AI with clarity, purpose, and humanity. And yes - expect a brief cameo from "Lynda Borg," her futuristic digital persona that captures the message behind her work: the best leaders of tomorrow will evolve with technology while staying deeply human. • Time Metabolism | Cortex Leadership Consulting

< Back Time Metabolism Aligning Your Energy with Your Most Important Work How Time Metabolism Can Change the Way You Work Most leaders plan their time - but not their energy. If you've ever felt drained during important meetings or too exhausted to focus in the afternoon, you're experiencing a mismatch between your schedule and your energy levels. This is where Time Metabolism comes in. What is Time Metabolism? Your body and mind don't operate at the same intensity all day. Energy levels naturally rise and fall, and if you don't schedule tasks accordingly, you're constantly working against yourself. How to Optimize Your Time Metabolism: Track your peak energy hours. When do you feel most alert and engaged? Schedule your highest-priority work during those hours. Save routine tasks for your low-energy times. Responding to emails or data entry shouldn't take up your best focus hours. Use movement & breaks to rest energy. Small Adjustments - like stepping away from screens or getting outside - help recharge your focus. Want to work smarter instead of harder? Watch this 1-minute breakdown clip. < Back The Meeting Trap Are your meetings helping or hurting productivity? Meeting Should Drive Results-Not Waste Time How many meetings did you attend last week? Now, how many of those meetings actually drove progress? Meetings should be a tool for execution-not a placeholder for indecision. Yet, many leaders fall into the trap of: Default meetings - recurring calls that no one questions No clear agenda - conversations go in circles No decision-making - forcing another follow-up meeting Here's how to make meetings work for you: Audit your recurring meetings. Cancel any that don't serve a clear purpose. Use AI-driven summaries instead of spending hours on debriefs. End every meeting with an action step. IF there's no decision, the meeting failed. Want to reclaim your time? Watch this 1-minute leadership insight on fixing bad meetings. [Insert Video Clip] Previous Next

  • Five Years Later, This Leadership Training Stuck and It's Still Paying Off | Cortex Leadership Consulting

Five Years Later, This Leadership Training Stuck and It's Still Paying Off < Back Kathlynn Stone Mar 14, 2025 With clients across the globe, Cortex Leadership Consulting equips leaders with the skills to strengthen their teams, improve communication, and drive company success. One company that experienced this transformation firsthand is CMG Leasing in Blacksburg, Virginia. We connected recently, almost 5 years after their engagement with Cortex. It turns out that when Lynda Foster led a leadership training session for their team, it set in motion a fundamental shift in the way they worked together. Today, the lessons they learned are still shaping how they lead and communicate. Through Cortex, Sarah Boor and her team didn’t just learn about DISC behavioral assessments and the Dreaded Drama Triangle. They reshaped their entire approach to leadership, communication, and conflict resolution. A New Mindset on Conflict and Leadership For Sarah, the change was personal. She had always avoided conflict, doing whatever it took to sidestep difficult conversations. “I would do anything to avoid it,” she said. “But after working with Lynda, I realized that avoiding conflict only led to miscommunication, overpromising, and unnecessary stress.” DISC helped Sarah develop self-awareness and recognize her instinct to retreat when confronted with tension. She learned that for someone like her, the first step wasn’t engaging in conflict. It was simply staying still. “I had to practice pausing before reacting. Just creating space changed everything,” she explained. “Instead of knee-jerk reactions, I started responding with intention. My team learned to do the same.” Building a Stronger Team Through Better Communication The training didn’t just change individual behaviors. It transformed how the team operated as a unit. “We started holding each other accountable in a way that made us stronger,” Sarah said. “Instead of reacting emotionally, we reminded each other to take a step back, ask questions, and truly listen.” These lessons also reshaped how they interacted with customers. “In the past, I dreaded difficult calls. Now, it’s my favorite part of the job,” Sarah said. “When you take the time to understand where someone’s frustration is coming from, you can de-escalate situations, improve communication, and create better experiences for everyone involved.” Leadership That Lasts Perhaps the greatest testament to the power of Cortex’s training is its lasting impact. Even as time has passed, Sarah and her colleagues continue to apply what they learned. As new team members join, they pass down these leadership principles, ensuring that the investment in development continues to pay off. “For companies thinking about leadership training, my advice is simple—do it,” Sarah said. “Employees don’t just want a boss. They want a coach who helps them grow. That’s what Cortex gave us.” Transforming Leadership at Every Level Sarah’s story is just one example of how Cortex Leadership Consulting helps leaders and teams redefine the way they work. If you’re ready to create stronger leaders, build a more cohesive team, and foster a culture of emotional intelligence, now is the time to take the next step. Cortex doesn’t just teach leadership. We transform it. Contact us today to learn how our training programs can impact your team and your business.
